Mon Cheri eChihuahuas Purchase Agreement

This puppy is healthy to the best of our knowledge when it leaves our home. We will give a 3 day (72 hour) guarantee for illness from the time it leaves, however this does not cover any injury suffered after the puppy leaves our home. The buyer is encouraged to have the puppy checked by a licensed veterinarian, of the buyer’s choice, within 3 (three) business days from purchase. Once the puppy leaves, we have no control over the environment it is in. Many of the diseases have incubation periods of 3 (three) days and as little as 24 hours. Please be careful as to where you take your puppy.

The puppy has had a basic health check at least once by a certified veterinarian before leaving. Should the puppy be determined to be in unsound or in poor health, as evidenced by a veterinarian's statement, the buyer can elect to keep the puppy, assuming all costs for its care, or may return the puppy at the buyers expense for a replacement puppy, when a like animal is available of the same breed gender and value. Loose stools can be caused by stress of traveling and change of diet. Please remember to take a fecal sample with you to the vet to eliminate any and all parasite possibilities.

In the event that a replacement puppy is not available, an available puppy from the next litter will be provided.

We give a year for any life threatening genetic defects. It must be determined by 2 (two) unassociated vets and sent to me in writing as soon as diagnosed. Puppy must be returned to us immediately. We are not responsible for shipping expenses. We will either replace the puppy with a puppy of equal value when one comes available or if puppy is kept we refund half of the purchase price, not including shipping expenses, all medical care is assumed by owner(s).

All testing and examinations are the responsibility of the buyer. Should the puppy be diagnosed within 12 months of any congenital/hereditary disorders that seriously impact the quality of life, short of euthanasia, or require continuous medical treatment through out the course of the puppies life, we will provide the buyer(s) the choice of:

A)  Keep the puppy and accept a partial refund, with the receipt of spay/neuter and return of AKC or CKC papers, if registered, a refund of 50% of purchase price will be given less any shipping and veterinary fees; Or

B)  Should the buyer(s) choose to give up ownership of the puppy to us, we will replace the puppy of equal value. AKC/CKC registration papers must be signed with a transfer to us.

The seller is not responsible for stress related illness such as hypoglycemia or colds. The buyer is advised to contact a veterinarian for treatment immediately if any symptoms occur. Please do not take the puppy into public places unless absolutely necessary, until the puppy has had all his/her vaccinations (recommended by your veterinarian). To insure immunity against diseases. There is no guarantee against negligence. The puppy will have current de-worming and vaccination(s) at the time of delivery/pickup. It is the responsibility of the buyer(s) to keep the vaccinations and de-worming current.

This guarantee is void if puppy is not checked by a veterinarian within 3 days of purchase.

Vaccines:

Your puppy has had at least 1 shot before you will take it home. The shot we use protects against distemper, hepatitis, adenovirus Type-2, parvo, and parainfluenza, We give their first vaccination between 9 weeks (if going home at 10 weeks) to 11 weeks (if going home at 12 weeks). We DON'T vaccinate with Lepto (many puppies will have an allergic reaction to it).

Worming:

Puppy has been de-wormed with Strongid-T once but most likely twice before leaving our home.

Diet:

Your puppy has been on Royal Canin mini-small breed puppy food. Food and fresh water is always available. Any change in diet may cause diarrhea (which can be deadly for a tiny puppy). Make sure to make any dietary changes gradually. Cows milk causes diarrhea in puppies.

Hypoglycemia:

Any puppy can be susceptible to hypoglycemia. Signs can be lethargy, staggering and falling down, just laying around with a sad look on their face, followed by what looks like sleep. This sleep-like condition can turn into a form of tooth-clenching seizures and spasms, followed by a comatose condition and even death. Not all symptoms may be seen so be very cautious for any difference in behavior. The quickest remedy for this is a dab of Nutri-cal rubbed with your finger directly into the puppies mouth.

Sugar in the drinking water, syrup, nutri-cal or nutri-stat, honey, or even sugar coated cereal help to restore lost blood sugar. Pediatric electrolytes (unflavored) and Science Diet AD food both work really well to help sick puppies. If the puppy doesn't recover within a short time get him to a vet immediately, it is an emergency.

It is very important to make sure the puppy doesn't get over tired, chilled, or go too long before eating to help prevent hypoglycemia.

Stress can also be a major cause of hypoglycemia. Some stressors can include being taken to a new home, depressed immunity caused by vaccinations, sudden change of diet, being terribly frightened, even trimming toenails, and baths can be terrifying to little puppies. Please minimize stress levels and try to make your puppy feel secure.

***Note: These are but a few highlights that you need to know as a dog owner...it is crucial that you consult your vet regarding any health concerns specific to your animal. This is a basic guide for you to use when you purchase a chihuahua puppy from Mon Cheri eChihuahuas.
